Oscars 2011: Best Dressed

Hello!

As we all know the Academy Awards were last night and there were many best dressed there. There were many there but I will narrowed it down to my top 10 favorites.

Mila Kunis wore a very romantic Elie Saab couture lace gown.

Getty Images

Cate Blanchett rocked a complex yet elegant crystal-and-pearl-embellished Givenchy Haute Couture gown and Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry. I love how unusual this dress is almost alien-like but Cate looks stunning and its fitting considering her many unusual roles.

Getty Images

Best Actress winner Natalie Portman (my favorite actress!) wore a Rodarte draped chiffon dress that was perfect for her glamorous pregnancy.

Getty Images

Amy Adams wore an elegant midnight-blue L'Wren Scott gown and Cartier emerald-and-diamond jewelry. *****

Sandra Bullock wore a crimson red Vera Wang gown that was truly beautiful on her.

Getty Images

Halle Berry wore a frilly Marchesa beaded gown with a dramatic tulle train. She has very nice shoulders and she clearly knows how to show them off with this gown.

Getty Images

Hailee Steinfeld dress her age in a Marchesa in a blush tulle tea dress which she helped design. She looked adorable in her dress and I admire her for dressing her age -14- because you get many pre-teen girls dressing older and it doesn't suit them.

Getty Images

Hilary Swank wore a Gucci ombré sequined dress and Anna Hu jewelry.
She looked stunning in this dress and is by far one of my favorite actresses of all time!

Getty Images

Celine Dion wore an Armani Privé ivory dress. After having given birth four months ago to twins she looks amazing in this dress!

Getty Images

Mandy Moore wore a beautiful sequined and tulle Monique Lhuillier gown. I loved the ivory tone to this dress and how it blends in with her skin making her look classic.

And my absolute favorite dress out of my top 10 is.........................drum roll please................Amy Adams L'Wren Scott gown! I love the design, color and the way it styled with a Cartier emerald-and-diamond jewelry is timelessly classic.

Tell me what were your favorites of the night!

Trend Report for Spring 2011

Hi!

As you know I follow Elle somewhat religiously to keep up with latest fashion trends and fashion news. Recently New York had their Fashion Week where many designers showed their Spring 2011 collection and Fall 2011 collection. I wanted to share with you all the fashion trends for the spring so you can arrange your wardrobe.

Courtesey of ELLE

As you can see this is a chart naming all the hottest trends with a model wearing the trend. I have to say my two favorite are "In The Mix" (mixing patterns) and "She Comes in Colors". You can even mix these two different trends together with bright color patterns.

I want to share some of my favorite designs

Peter Som

Rachel Comey

Peter Jensen

Rachel Roy

These are my favorite because of how the combination of patterns and colors are beautifully done. Any girl can wear any of these and look flawless! Try it and let me know your thoughts!

P.S. Rachel Roy is one of my all time favorite designers. She is sophisticated and sweet, it really comes across in her designs and accessories. So if your looking for a mature sophisticated look, look her up and see if you can copy her looks.

Check out elle.com for more information on Spring and Fall trends!

Street Chic Daily: New York

Today from Elle we have this amazing Street Chic

Photo: Courtney D'Alesio

I cannot fathom how much I love this look. This look has many feminine flourishes such as polka dots, silk and scarfs which every girl can rock. Many people think that polka dots are out of date and too "girly". I know I did but that's only because I was using it incorrectly. You need to match it with something completely opposite. For instance in this look she has mixed the navy polka dot blouse with a gold pleated skirt that compliment each really well. Remember this: sometimes the the most unlikely patterns make good matching pairs.

Mando from Project Runway did just that and he ended up being on the top 2.

Go shopping and see if you can combine different patterns together to make a fabulous look!

People Tree Spring Collection 2011

Hello!

I hope you've had a wonderful weekend and your week started off great. Mine started a bit of snow and ice which is always fun! Today I wanted to review the new Spring Collection for People Tree. People tree is a Japanese and UK based fair trade clothing network. People Tree was started in 1995 in Tokyo and now has offices in Tokyo and London and 70 different producer groups and co-ops in 20 developing countries. I first heard about the British ethical fashion pioneers when Emma Watson teamed up with them for a collaboration line last year.

People Tree mission statement says, "To support disadvantage people in developing countries. We use fashion as a tool for change to help people e
scape from poverty, strengthen communities, and campaign for environment and social justice." I think this is such a great idea because I'm a very eco-friendly girl and I'm always looking for ways to be more helpful to the environment. People Tree helps me be more eco-friendly by using fashion.

I'm going to review a couple of pieces from the People Tree
collection and then some from the collaboration line with Emma.

Kara Pocket Tunic £38.00= $61

This first outfit is the Kara pocket tunic. This may look
too casual but remember to accessorize, accessorize, accessorize! But don't overdue it. This tunic would look great with simple bracelets and earrings that match the navy color. Then you want to add a splash of color with a great pair of sandals and handbag.Maggie Top £28.00=$48, Mae Tee £22.00=$35 (both tops come in black, navy and pink), Edith Trouser £40.00= $64

I put these three pieces together because they both wou
ld make great outfits. The first is the Maggie stripe top and second is the Mae stripe tee. There a lot of stripes and navy in the collection. I really like these tops because if you stylize correctly you get a french Maud 90's look. The pants are Edith slouchy trouser which can be used with either top. I love this trouser because it looks comfy but with the right top you get a casual Maud chic look. Extra accessory options could possibly be a black bowler hat, a Chiffon flower headband, beige lace up boots, or black flats.Eva Cardigan £35.00=$56 (comes in navy & blue), Nina drape dress £65.00=$104

I chose the Eva cardigan because I love the color, design and plus you should always have a cardigan in your wardrobe. The last look is the Nina drape dress. This may look plain but again accessorize! A great sandal and colorful handbag would make this look fashionable.

Emma Watson Collaboration line
Emma Blazer £95=$152

This is the Emma Blazer, you can basically style with anything. I will make another blog on the ways to wear a blazer. However like you always need a cardigan in your wardrobe, you also need a tailored blazer.

Bella Silk Dress £95=$152

This is the Bella Silk Dress. I admit, I'm not very fond of this dress because I don't like the pattern but I'm sure we can find the right accessory and heel that can make this dress look better.

Sasha drape dress £48=$77

This is the Sasha drape dress which is my favorite out of the whole Emma Collection. Laying flat here on screen doesn't look flattering but when you see it tried on, it looks fabulous. So I added a picture with Emma modeling the dress. She's facing sideways but it's a visual with accessories. I love the way they added a golden broach on the shoulder as if it was holding the dress together. It also gives it a military look. The boots are amazing and they complete the outfit just right. Her whole look looks edgy.

Most of these outfits are a bit expensive but they cost what they are worth. They're all hand made and 100% cotton, this way people in India who made these beautiful clothing receive better pay for their work. Here's a video explaining the difference between working conditions in fair trade and what's not fair trade.
